You’ve either had your head in the sand or been watching too much Netflix lately if you haven’t noticed denim is back with a vengeance. I’m not talking about your skinny jean action either. Think dungarees, playsuits, flares, skirts, vests and jackets. Beyonce wore a denim jumpsuit to a Nets basketball game recently while Kendall Jenner sported a double denim (Canadian Tuxedo) ensemble at JFK airport last month. I even saw a guy this week rocking a denim puffer jacket with matching cap combo. Dreamboat.
Like or loathe, the flared jean is a thing again. The northern hemisphere is going bananas over the 70s inspired style with the Stella McCartney staple flare a sell out. Luckily for us every major denim brand has a flare in different colours and washes to suit any occasion. A tailored jacket teamed with hot heels will make your silhouette look lean and long. Alternatively tuck in the front of a tee with a statement belt for a more casual vibe. Channel Jane Birkin.
Whenever I think of the timeless denim jacket, icons like Madonna, Marilyn Monroe and Kate Moss come to mind. Thrown on over a summer ensemble when the sun goes down, or worn as another layer under a winters coat, the denim jacket is a versatile item for any season. Look out for styles using vintage inspired washes with details like shearling and zips.
