I have created countless bedrooms and playrooms for kids and the client brief is almost always a combination of the following – pretty/fun/colourful/cost-effective. So I found myself in a ridiculous state of excitement when, towards the end of last year, I came across a Wollongong-based brand called This Little House and their gorgeous ‘sleeping spaces’ which is basically a bed that doubles as a cubby.
The house-shaped frame itself is simple enough – but it’s what you do with it that counts because the idea is to provide the perfect blank canvas for children to ignite their imaginations and express their individual style. The timber version comes flat packed and ready to paint in any colour you like while the metal option comes in staple colours and can be adjusted safely from a cot to a bed.
Add fairy lights, garlands, cushions, cool bed linen, perhaps a muslin drape plus your child’s favourite teddies and toys and hey presto! You have a whimsical reading nook or a bed perfect for dreaming. And best of all, they are really well priced – the timber cubby is $199.95 and the metal cot/bed is $499.95 (+ delivery).
The initial collection sold out super fast so This Little House is now taking orders for March. Get in quick to secure yours at www.thislittlelove.com.au/this-little-house.
