Lots of people have been sending in ‘Ask Bec’ questions asking for updates on our epic build. Well I’m pleased to say that we are getting there. The final fit out is taking place and hopefully we’ll be in by Oct/Nov.
I’ve busily been ordering lots of our furniture (most of which has a 12 week lead time- gah!) but thought I’d post a composition of what I’ve decided for my Good Front Room (GFR). Basically the GFR in my house is like a sitting room. It’s my equivalent to my husband’s man cave. So it’s a room for me with everything that I wanted in it. Chris didn’t really get a say, like I didn’t really get a say in his man cave. The room has a large Bay window in it which will face out to the street and I’m looking forward to jazzing this up.
As most of our house is a very monochromatic colour palette (white, grey and black), I thought I’d go a little crazy in the GFR with colour. Here is a list of the items I have purchased and they all centre around my Miranda Skoczek commissioned piece of art which I am OBSESSED with. You know how lots of artists are doing zebras these days? Well she was one of the originals. Yep, she was doing it before it was kool and I’m thrilled I’ve got a Miranda zebra to call my own!
Christian Lacroix Riviera Rug (I bought the navy with pink edges but I think it’s sold out. You can still get the black and white though) here
Miranda Skozcek painting here
Fritz Hansen Ro Chairs here (I was immediately drawn to these chairs as soon as I saw them featured in the round ups of Milan Design Week 2013. A lot of the glossy press were calling it THE chair of the festival and I couldn’t agree more. Yes they broke the bank but I am that gah-gah over them I just couldn’t resist).
Marvin Sofa by Jardan here but in a navy linen (Yes I realise I used a different sofa in the picture collage but the only pic I could find of the Marvin was in tan leather- yuk. I am choosing a navy linen for the Marvin to match the linen on the sofa pictured in the collage).
Lightly Design Honeycomb pendants here (to hang within the Bay window).
Custom-made upholstery by Bloom Interiors here for my Bay window. It will feature an upholstered base/day bed cushion in a lush salmon velvet, with scatter cushions in a mix of aqua, turquoise, copper and fuschia pink velvets and satins.
